Walking to school

Ha, it's been a while since I made an OC drawing and it HAD to be something depressing. Go me haha

So, this was more of an experiment than anything else. First thing I wanted to try out was to tweak my style of drawing people. I want to abandon the manga style because that style is not versatile at all, and I don't want to fall victim to Sameface, the syndrome where literally all OC's have the same face shape. Nope, not for me. Thus this is, well...cartoon style? I sorta added/took out things i liked/disliked from other comic styles. So we have that.

Second thing was trying to convey emotion, and I think I did this very well. The emotion I was trying to depict is simple, but complex: that depressive state of mind. The emotional state where one becomes numb all over, ethereal, and essentially on autopilot. There are not thoughts in your mind when you have reached this abyss. So, this is meant to depict the depression my Main Character suffers for a while: his walk to school, on autopilot, where everything is just..grey to him. The bruises he has on his face and hands are results of constant bullying and the tough school life he goes through.

Third thing was a slight revamp of my Main Character. Still trying to name him.

Also I still suck at backgrounds, yay! And I now hate drawing Converses.
